New and old adherents to the coloring phenomenon will fall in love with Daydreams Coloring Book with 85 intricate illustrations: delicate flowers, buzzing bees, storybook homes, regal portraits, and more.Let your imagination roam (inside or outside the lines)!
Hanna Karlzon is an Umeå, Sweden-based illustrator and creator of the best-selling coloring books, Dagdrömmar and Sommarnatt, previously published in Sweden. She creates elaborately detailed images using India ink to detail pictures from her own imagination and loves to draw flowers, forests, houses, and animals. She draws her inspiration from the natural world that surrounds her studio in northern Sweden and adds in some art nouveau, punk rock, and often a hint of ‘70s design to the mix.
I already saw many drawings on Instagram and in our Facebook group and therefore I am very enthousiastic to see this beautiful book lying on my table. The cover of this book is already beautiful in itself. A nice hardcover binding with accents in gold give the cover a little bit of extra. The paper is cream-colored and feels excellent. The drawings are very diverse. You can choose to color in an easy one but also a more difficult one. There is space left to fill in your own details in some drawings. I will start by showing you some examples:
The first and second image I colored in with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. Afterwards I used a Prismacolor blender pencil. For the background I used Koh-I-Noor soft pastels. The Polychromos do a wonderful job on this paper. For the mushrooms I used 6 different colors and when you use a blender pencil afterwards you get a beautiful effect. This paper is very well suited fort this technique. The soft pastels perform also very well. This paper feels a bit rough and therefore the pastel affix well.
The third image I colored in with Staedtler fineliner. I also used some glitter gel pens. These felt tip pens also perform great on this paper. There is no visible bleeding on the backside of the paper.
Conclusion: When you have the opportunity to buy this book I would say wholeheartedly yes! To me this is the kind of book for which I do my utmost to color in the images as best as I can. The book is printed on high quality paper. Very suitable for colored pencils and felt tip pens, but defenitely also for pastels. The cover is somewhat chique and gives a good impression of what to find inside. I am looking forward to Hanna’s other books. And once again I say to colorists: buy this beautiful book. You won’t regret it!
