Inside you’ll find 30 amazing art activities that will take you on a limitless journey of patterning, shading, and coloring. These whimsical images offer a easy way to de-stress and unleash your inner artist. Thaneeya McArdleâ’s transcendental art explores a visual language of shape, form, line, and color. Each vibrantly detailed illustration is designed to exercise your creativity. Beautifully colored finished examples are provided, along with a handy guide to basic art techniques, from patterning and combinations to shading and color theory. This therapeutic coloring book is perfect for decorating with markers, colored pencils, gel pens, or watercolors. Printed on high-quality, extra-thick paper that won’t bleed through, all of the pages are pre-perforated for easy removal and display.

The first impression of this book makes me happy. Colourful cover and printed one-sided. The book contains all sorts of nice designs for colouring : mandala’s, owls, flowers and so on. On the first page you will find an explanation and lots of tips for making colouring in this book more fun.

You will find some coloured examples in the book just to give you an idea of the possibilities. The coloures that were used are mentioned below.

To give you an even better impression of this book I have some examples I want to show you.

I coloured the first design with Faber Castell Polychromos. I used the soft colours. I mixed these colours by going over them layer by layer using another contrasting colour. Because of this there’s a little more pressure on the paper but that is no problem. The paper is very suited for using colouring pencils on. The release of the colours is fine and the colours attach to the paper very well. I liked working on this one very much.

The next one was tested with Tombow ABT pens and 1 marker for the light-blue. A very cheerful design because of the many colours. The Tombows press through a little and the marker always does. But in this book this is no problem because there’s no design on the back, only a small text. The paper doesn’t stay even with these felt-tips. Put it under something heavy when it’s finished is to be advised. The colouring itself went very well on this paper. The ink doesn’t run and it attaches well to this paper.

Conclusion : This is a very nice colouring book, in which everyone will be able to find a nice design. The pages are perforated so it’s easy to remove a page from the book. Nice for putting in a frame or to give as a present. Printed one-sided so suited for all sorts of colouring materials. Keep in mind that the paper will bubble a little when you use wetter colouring materials. But that should not spoil the fun. Recommended yet again.
