From Just Cards direct we received dit beautiful book for writing a review on. For this we thank them very much.

Information on the internet: Christian adult colouring book with heavy weighted paper and gold foiled cover.
88 pages of beautiful hand-drawn illustrations, based around Scripture verses.

The firm and beautifully made cover of this book strikes immediately. You can see that a lot of work was done to not just make the inside look beautiful. Let’s take a look at the content by means of a few examples.

I started with a beautiful fine design which seemed very apropriated for colouring with pencils. I used the Koh I Noor Polycolors this time. These pencils attach to the paper beautifully, which is pretty firm and seems to be suited for this very much. The pigment from the pencils attached nicely and colouring withh them was very nice. Even when I used more pressure to create gradient, the paper stayed in good shape.

This book contains 88 designs so there is enough to choose from. There are a lot of texts and words in the designs however, which is something you must like. Most of the texts contain a message, but they are nicely applied in the designs. My next design is also a word and the text on the adjacent page says to enjoy every day.

I coloured this one with Faber Castell Pitt brushpens and for the details I used Staedler Fineliners. At first the paper feels like the pens are pressing trough, but that isn’t the case. The paper does absorb a little but it doesn’t show on the backside, the Staedler doesn’t press through either. The colours bleed together nicely and the colouring goes smoothly.

Because I liked this book very much and the next design seemed very suited for using watercolour pencils on, I gave those a try too. The colours from the Staedler Karat pencils come out beautifully on this paper. Because of the use of the waterbrush the paper bulges a little when wet, but as soon as it’s dried up that disappears.

Conclusion : This book is very nice, manufactured with great cae and of good size. In the beginning of the book there is a clear explanation from the illustrator and of how to use this book.

The different materials that I used are no problem on this duplex-printed paper. The paper absorbs the ink a little, but isn’t a problem. A lot of different designs with smaller and larger details. For anyone who fancies colouring with a message this is defenately recommended.
