From Zifflin Coloring Books we received the book Doodle Invasion for writing a review on. For this we want to thank Zifflin Coloring Books very much.
Information on the internet: This big sized coloring book is a challenge for all ages.
If you are a fanatic doodler and obsessed with filling in and coloring doodles then this is definitely for you.
Or you can just admire the detailed art.
The book is filled with 50 unique and extremely detailed work of art by the master of doodles Kerby Rosanes.
I have had this book in hand several times but every time it seemed like too big a challenge to get started on these designs. Put the book down every time, because it seemed very difficult to me. For this you really had to use your immagination.
First I will show you some designs.
So now I took the challenge. I started with felt-tips. I chose the Tombow ABT Dual brush and the Faber Castell pens brush. The paper in the book is very thin and that is noticeable right away when colouring with felt-tips. They press through a lot and to prevent that from happening I would advise to put a white sheet of paper between the pages. Furthermore the paper bulges somewhat because of the water in the felt-tips. This is a bit of a pity really because it remains visible. The paper doesn’t get completely even again when the ink has dried up.The design itself however was very nice and cheerful to colour. The little doodles made it a nice experience.
Next I coloured a design with colouring pencils. I chose the Caran d’Ache pablo and the Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. I adapted it with the Derwent Blenderpen. The paper is perfectly suited for colouring with pencils. The pencils go over the paper very smoothly and the release of the colours is good, even when using little pressure. I used the Blenderpen to remove the colourstripes. This went well also and the paper remained in good condition, even after using the Blenderpen.
Conclusion : The nice, cheerful designs in this book are a challenge to colour. You can let your immagination run free when you colour the doodles. Unfortunately the paper is not very suited for using felt-tips, but very much so for using pencils. I’m glad I got to do the review on this book and I will most certainly get this book with it’s nice doodles out more often.
