I was doubting for some time whether to buy a stained glass book or not. But a while ago I decided to choose one from the pretty large collection and ordered it.
Information on the internet: Drawn from an authentic Victorian stained glass pattern book that dates back to 1848, here are 16 antique patterns to color. “Some of the designs are very quaint and curious, others most elaborately beautiful, leading the eye in winding mazes of intricate invention.” — The Art Journal. After coloring, place the perforated pages near a light source to admire the brilliant effects. Specially designed for experienced colorists, Geometric Genius Stained Glass Coloring Book and other Creative Haven® coloring books offer an escape to a world of inspiration and artistic fulfillment
I was very curious when the book arrived. It contains 16 different designs and the paper is transparent. While colouring I put a white sheet of paper between the pages because you could get confused in what to colour, due to the next page shining through.
I chose to colour the first page in the book and used the Tombow Dual brush pens. These seemed most suited for this, because I read felt-tips like Tombow’s were advised to use in these kind of books. It was a bit of getting used to because it colours differently than normal paper. The paper takes longer than usual to dry up. I was satisfied with the result however.
Next I used the Faber Castell pitt artist pen brush. I wanted to see what they would do and whether they would give the same effect as the Tombow’s. The colouring went well, but I noticed that the paper started curving. The colours also seemed less transparent than the Tombow’s. The result of the design however, when using Pitt artist felt-tips,pleases me very much.
Because of the different kind of paper you get a very different effect, which makes it extra fun. I will definately be getting this book out more than once, for colouring some more.
