We reviewed different books from Unibul Press before and this is the last one in the series. I started by flipping the pages first to see what kind of mandala’s can be found in the book. What strikes immediately is that the book isn’t very big, about 21 by 21 cm, an ideal size for colouring a mandala on an afternoon. The paper feels thin so I wonder what will happen durong colouring. I will get back on that after testing. I will give you some insight as well by showing some examples from the book.

I started colouring in this book with pencils. I chose the Crayola pencils. These pencils deliver their pigment very well on this paper and the colours cover almost immediately. So adapting wasn’t necessary. The colours are displayed nicely.

Next I coloured a design with felt-tips. I chose the Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. These pens coloured very nice on this paper. Because the paper is rather thin the ink pressed through slightly, but because this mandala book is printed one-sided, pressing through to the backside isn’t much of a problem. Just to be sure you can put a sheet of paper between the pages to prevent the ink from damaging the next design. I didn’t do this but the design on the next page remained intact. The colours are displayed very nicely and the ink dried very well.

Conclusion : Pencils as well as felt-tips coloured very nice in this book. The pens did press through a little, but in this book that’s no problem because the pages are printed one-sided. Pencils also coloured very well. The pigment attached to the paper very well which made adapting unnecessary, because the paper has almost no structure.
