I have seen designs from Hannah Lynn before and what struck me everytime were the big eyes of the female figures. I always liked these designs very much. So as we got this one sent I was sold immediately. Every single design is beautiful. And what I personally like very much is that the pages are printed one-sided, so no worries about any pressing through on another design. This makes this book suitable for using multiple materials right away. I will show you some examples from the book first so you can get an idea of what sort of designs you can expect.

Furthermore the book contains mini designs of all the designs in front of the book, with the title of the design. This is very handy in case you want to look up the example on the internet. You can search on the name. A really handy option in my view.

Of course I chose a design for colouring. I started with pencils and used the Faber Catsell Polychromos pencils. I chose the design “Smartie Pants Sammie”. I really liked this design because it looks like it’s been drawn in a lined exercise book. Like al of us did when we were in school. This was a bit of nostalgia. My drawing talents aren’t that good but it reminded me of my days in school. The pencils went over the paper smoothly and the pigment attached well. Adapting wasn’t necessary, because the pigment covered enough.
I’m very happy with this design.

Next I picked another design. Which one would it be, because I liked multiple designs very much. Eventually I picked “Aussie girl : Cloe”. I started colouring with the Zig Clean Bolor Real brush pens. These felt-tips have real brush tips, with hairs, and can colour very precise. The ink is a little wetter than with normal pens, but because the pages in the book are printed one-sided, it doesn’t matter nuch that the ink presses through, which happened here. You do have to watch out that the ink doesn’t damage the next design, so just to make sure I put a sheet of paper in between. I coloured the air with alcohol markers, the Winsor & Newton brushmarkers, because I wanted to know whether marers couls also be used in this book, and markers always colour more even on bigger spaces. The markers coloured very well on this paper too. The paper endured the pens as well as the alcoholmarkers very well. Therefore I’m very pleased with the result.

Conclusion : The book has one-sidedprinted pages which I always find a big plus. In front of the book you can find a summary of all the designs including their titles, which makes it very easy looking them up on the internet. The paper in this book is very suited for using pencils as well as pens and alcoholmarkers. I especially like it when alcoholmarkers can be used on paper. They colour slightly different than normal felt-tips and sometimes the markers bleed (run) but that didn’t happen here. This book’s quality is excellent.
