From Bastei Lübbe we received this winterbook for writing a review about. We want to thank them very much for this.
Information you can read on the internet about this book: Come to my winter wonderland ! Fresh air tickles the nose and the first frost flowers decorate the windows. Winter is here ! Grab your pencils and sharpener and come along on a winte stroll through this special book. Wild snowball fights, romantic Christmas markets and tempting banquets through Life.
Colour with bright colours to discourage the grey outdoors.
This is the second book by Rita Berman that I get to review. The fall book was very nice but this winter book is very nice too. The cover of this book is nice and firm and is inviting for colouring. It’s got a handy size and is printed double-sided. The paper is firm and nicely white. I wil show you some examples from the book first.
This nice winter castle got to my attention right away. I coloured it with Faber Castell Polychromos. These pencils are very nice for blending and making gradients with. The pigment attaches well to the paper and is easily produced. By using different shades of pencils and by working in layers, you don’t need a stumper or blender. I personally thinkk it came out nicely.
I coloured the next design with the well known Stabilo 68 felt-tips. Many colourists use them. Because of the firm paper they don’t press through to the design on the backside. I always think that is a big plus. The ink of the pens dries quickly and the colours stay nice. I finished the background using pastel crayons in two colours. Always fixate the pastel to stop it from giving off.
Finally I noticed a nice dream-catcher and I coloured this also. I used the Prismacolor Premier pencils this time. These pencils are a little waxlike and therefore they colour and blend very well. The design remains serene by not using to many shades. Colouring on ths paper with these pencils is also very nice. I finished the background using pastels here too, using the same shades as the pencils.
My opinion on this book is laudatory. The size of the book is good and a range of different designs, for each his own. The book can be opened well, so you can colour in it very easily. The winter designs invite to be coloured. Worth a try for beginners as well as for the more experienced colourists. I’m waiting for the summer edition which will come out this year. The Spring edition has just come out. Wishing you lots of colouring fun !
