From Pagina Forlag we received this nice book for writing a review about. We thank them for this of course.

Information you can find on the internet about this book: This exclusive coloring book takes you on a trip in a lush garden. Meet all the animals that hide among the vegetation and let your mind come to rest by coloring a mandala of beautiful flower petals!

My first impression of this book is a good one. A nice thick book, with a firmly bonded cover. The book contains 96 double-sided printed pages. And it’s size of 21×25 cm is more than ok. The design of the cover is nice and is printed with gold. The paper feels nice and firm. One thing I like about this book is that some pages have a black background. Always a nice combination when it’s coloured. I will show you some examples before we start the testing.

As I already mentioned, this book contains designs with a black background. I coloured my first design having this background. The felt-tips I used are Tombow ABT brush pens and Stabilo 68. Colouring on this paper and the blending go very well. These pens didn’t press through the paper. The paper is of a firm quality. The ink attaches nicely and dries up well. The colours appear to be brighter because of the black background. I always find this a nice effect.

I coloured my second design using Staedler ergosoft pencils. These are soft pencils that colour very nice on this paper. On top of that you don’t need a blender. In order to create transitions I only used the pencils themselves, in different shades. Again no negative comment on the paper. The colouring went easy and the pigment attached fine. I coloured in multiple layers which was no problem. Another successful test.

My opinion on this book is good. It’s a firm book with a nicely designed cover. Easily folded for colouring in the centre. There’s a lot of variety in the designs. The paper is suited for lots of materials, because of it’s firm structure. What does come to mind is that the title “Blomstermandala” isn’t quite right. I exected more mandala-like designs. But that’s all really. Every colourist can enjoy hours of fun here. An asset for sure !
