From Penguin Books we received this book for writing a review about. We want to thank Penguin Books very much for this.

Information you can find on the internet: A beautiful, intricate colouring book, full of romantic, inspirational and dramatic quotes from the favourite plays and poems of William Shakespeare. An ideal choice for older children and adults, in a beautiful square format designed to fit comfortably into handbag, briefcase or schoolbag. Gloriously intricate illustrations provide a soothing occupation for the millions of fans of adult colouring books. A perfect way to celebrate Shakespeare 400.

What a nice book ! Beautiful firm cover with golden details. This is an invitation to discover it right away. The paper feels nice and firm and has a yellowish colour. The pages are printed double-sided. It contains nice, alternate designs. Some of them with black, detailed parts. Always nice, such variety. The designs are made by Good wives and Warriors. This book contains easy designs, but there are challenges for the more experienced colorists in there as well. A pleasure to colour. I will show some examples first.

It’s not easy making a choice from so many nice designs. But I succeeded. I coloured the first design using Derwent Coloursoft. As I wrote earlier, the paper is firm and is nice to colour. The pigment of the pencils can be mixed and blended well. I didn’t use a blenderpencil but blended with the pencils themselves. You can create nice transitions that way.

On the second design I used Crayola supertips feltpens. These pens are based on water and colour very nice. The tip can be used in two ways. You can use it for detailed work, but you can also colour wider areas very well with it. The paper has no problem whatsoever with the wet ink. They don’t press through either, which is very conveniant because the pages are printed on both sides. The ink doesn’t run and stays between the lines nicely.

I can draw no other conclusion than that I find this book very nice. The paper is very nice to colour on. The ink doesn’t press through quickly, but to make sure you can always test this on the last page. Nice designs with an occasional quote. The only point of criticism is that you have to put some extra pressure on the centre of the book. After that it can be opened well for colouring. This book is worth while for sure and is a nice asset for the colorist. You will have a lot of fun colouring. That’s a fact.
