From Blue Angel publishing we received the book Jasmine Becket-Griffith coloring book for testing and writing a review about. We want to thank Blue Angel very much for this.

Information you can find on the internet: At last, Jasmine Becket-Griffith’s most loved paintings are now available as a coloring book!
Jasmine has selected 55 of her favorite characters to create this fantasy art adventure for you to enjoy. Designed for coloring book fanatics both young and old, there are detailed intricacies for those who love to lose themselves in meditative detail, and there are broad patches and fun characters for those who like to take a simpler approach.
Each coloring pattern features an enlightening description about the original painting it is based on, and the individual character depicted, to satisfy the curiosity of the artist’s many fans.
96 pages, printed on premium quality 150gsm paper

As soon as we received this book, I immediately started flipping the pages and what awesome designs it contains. I found it hard to pick a design for colouring. They are all very nice. You can Google the name of the paintings on the internet and see the example by Jasmine Becket-Griffith. The bar is placed higher immediately this way. I will show you some examples from the book first.

Besides the normal designs the book also contains a few smaller designs. There are 4 smaller designs on one page. In case you haven’t got much time, it’s also very nice to colour a smaller design. You colour a nice design too, only smaller.

After flipping for quite a while I chose the design Skeleton Magic. I coloured this design using pencils. I used the Faber Castell Polychromos and the Caran d’Ache pablo pencils. Both brands coloured very nicely on this paper. The pigment was released easy and attached well to the paper. In order to make it a nicer as a whole, I adapted it with a Koh i Noor blender pencil.

Next I coloured a design using felt-tips. I chose the design Qouth the raven, nevermore. I used the Zig Clean Color Real brush pens. These pens also coloured very nicely on this paper. The ink dried up well and, because of the good quality of the paper, the ink didn’t press through. That in itself wouldn’t have been a problem though, because on the backside of the page there’s only information about the next design. I’m very happy with the result.

Conclusion : I can only be positive about this book. Pens as well as pencils coloured very well on this paper. Pens didn’t press through because of the thick quality of the paper. Because the desings are framed you don’t have a problem colouring the edges, which is the case in many other books. The extra information about the original paintings, which is next to the designs, is a nice plus in my opinion and it makes this book even more special.
