We received a review copy of “Tree of Life advanced coloring book” from Salariya Book Company for which we kindly thank them.
Information you can find on the internet: The Tree of Life Advanced Colouring Book provides a creative way to relax and unwind, free the mind, and increase focus and creativity that your inner artist will love. The beautiful line illustrations of the natural world have been carefully and intricately drawn so you can colour in and personalise to make them your own.
Like I mentioned in an earlier review of a book by the same publisher, I love these kinds of books. They have a beautiful and thick cardboard cover. I love this, which of course is a personal matter.
The paper feels good and firm to the touch and is white. The pages are printed doubled sided. Some pictures are drawn across two pages. A typical thing about this book is that on several occasions the image of the right page is repeated on the left page, only smaller. Take a look at this photo for example:
There are intricate pictures as well as more bold ones. All pages are printed. Let me show you a few examples:
For my first picture, one of a pregnant woman/tree, I used colored pencils: Faber Castell Polychromos and Koh-I-Noor Hardmuth. I also used a Prismacolor blender pencil. The pencils perform excellent on this paper. I would recommend however to put a sheet of paper under your hand because you easily swipe the pigment off the paper. Whether this is due to the paper, the pencils or your skin, is hard to tell.
My final picture I colored in with several different brands of felt tip pens: Faber Castell Pitt brush pens, Stabilo, Crayola, Koi Sakura brush pens. For the background I used Koh-I-Noor Hardmuth colored pencils because I wanted a somewhat lighter background than would be achieved with felt tips. The felt tips performed well on this paper and did not bleed through the page so you can color the page on the backside as well. The colored pencils did well too but once again: remember to put a sheet of paper under your hand.
Concluding let me say that this is another beautiful book in this series. A fancy and thick cover and good quality paper. Felt tip pens do well and do not bleed through. Colored pencils color also well but use the above mentioned sheet of paper. The drawings are intricate and diverse, as well as bold. I especially like the pictures that are drawn both bold and intricate at the same time. A book that is a must for your collection of color books!
